According to court records, 40-year-old Bruce Wayne Renshaw and his friend were walking his dog at Four Freedoms Monument around 10:20 p.m. on Saturday night when things turned violent.

The Evansville Police Department says a witness called 911 and confirmed the man had pinned a woman against a blue SUV choking her, leaving red marks. Court records say witnesses ran toward Renshaw with mace trying to get the man to stop assaulting the victim. When police arrived, the couple had fled the scene.

The witness followed the blue SUV to 3rd and Vine Street where EPD Officers made the arrest.

The victim told police she had been punched and choked, adding the argument started over walking his dog at the riverfront.  The police reports say Renshaw ripped the woman's necklace off of her neck.  According to the victim, the pair are only friends.

When Renshaw arrived at the jail, police say a bag of Methamphetamine weighing 0.04 grams was found in his wallet.

Renshaw was booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail without bond on charges of Strangulation, Criminal Mischief, Driving on a Suspended License, Possession of Meth, and two outstanding warrants.

Today’s high temperatures in the mid to low 90s marked our hottest recorded in the Tri-State in at least 3 weeks. Worse yet, dew point values in the upper 60s made it feel oppressively hot earlier today - most of us reached the triple digits at times today. Believe it or not, temperatures are expected to get even hotter these next few days! After dipping back into the uppers 60s and low 70s during the predawn hours Tuesday, the mercury will skyrocket back into the mid to low 90s!
