Evansville Man Charged With Rape After Two Encounters

Police say the alleged crimes took place in the 1600 block of East Blackford Ave in Evansville.

According to Court Records 40-year-old Charles Edward Turpen was arrested by police and charged with rape.

The police reports says there is probable cause for an arrest after the victim told police there were two encounters of sexual assault.

Police say the alleged crimes took place in the 1600 block of East Blackford Ave in Evansville.

The victim told police she was asleep when the first situation took place. Court records says Turpen came into the girl's room and laid next to her, putting his hands on her private areas, the victim says she tried to move Turpens hands but he continued to assault her.

The second situation happened days later; the victim told detectives Turpen forced the girl to perform oral sex against her will.

Turpen is being held at the Vanderburgh County Jail without bond awaiting a court appearance.
