An Evansville man was taken to the hospital by ambulance on Tuesday morning after the Illinois State Police says he crashed his vehicle due to visibility issues caused by fog.

The crash happened early Tuesday morning around 6:30 a.m. on Illinois Route 141 at US 45 in White County.

According to ISP, a 44-year-old Evansville man was traveling west on Illinois 141 approaching the intersection with US 45. He told troopers he couldn't see the stop sign at the intersection due to fog.

ISP says after failing to see the stop sign, the driver continued through the intersection and left the roadway, entering a wooded area. There, the man's vehicle struck a ditch and overturned.

He was taken to an area hospital by ambulance but there's no word on his current condition.

The driver was cited for Disobeying a Stop Sign, according to ISP.

We headed out to cloudy skies and some damp conditions this morning across the Tri-State. We've been tracking scattered showers for the first part of the day. While it’s been mostly cloudy, there will be some sunshine as soon as we get the rain out of the area. Temperatures are still expected to reach unseasonably warm values this afternoon. With some sunshine and winds out of the southwest highs should have no problem reaching the upper 50s and lower 60s. Clouds will clear out, but the southerly wind flow will keep overnight lows in the low to mid 40s. Tomorrow morning won't be all that bad considering it will be December 2nd.
