The Frontier League has named Evansville Otters player Riley Krane its first "Player of the Week" of the 2021 season.

Pointstreak, the official statistical provider of the Frontier League and the Independent Professional Baseball Federation, chooses the weekly award.

The team says that in earning the award, Krane went 6 for 11 at the plate in the Frontier League’s Opening Weekend, a .545 batting average.

The first baseman also scored five runs, but his biggest game came in game two of Saturday’s doubleheader against Equipe Quebec.

Krane had two home runs, one being an inside-the-park home run, with five RBIs.

Krane is in his first season with the Otters. This is the first Frontier League individual honor of the 2021 season for the Otters.

This season is Krane’s fourth overall in the Frontier League. The Evergreen, Co. native previously spent time with the Joliet Slammers and the Windy City Thunderbolts.

Krane takes home the award for the first time since he won it back in 2019 with the Joliet Slammers.

It was another cool, though overall pleasant day across the Tri-State - after only seeing temperatures dive as low as 22° early this morning, peak temperatures ended up climbing a few degrees higher than Thursday's; that being said, Evansville’s high temperature of 27° Was still 15° below average for this time of the year. As for the evening ahead, temperatures will gradually fall for 23° around dinner time back down to 19° by10 PM. A weak northerly wind flow most of the night paired with our crystal clear skies will cause temperatures to of fall back down into the mid to low teens once again - Evansville's anticipated low temperature of 12° will mark or coolest since the morning of January 7th.
