Two local agencies are competing in the 2021 Aftermath K9 Grant, and need your help to fetch that win.

The Evansville Police Department says they need votes to win the grant, which would be used to provide training and equipment for the 8 K9 Officers within the department. "We're hoping to use the money to send more of our handlers training to be safer, and be more effective with the dogs," says Sgt. Matt Karges.

The Madisonville Police Department says they'll use the funding to update their training facility, which according to Lt. Leighann Stroud, is long overdue. "It has not been updated In years, so If we do get that grant money, that's what we'll work to improve," said Lt. Stroud.

Grant funds will be provided to the winners of the competition by Aftermath Cares, which awards funds to support K9s annually.

According to Aftermath's website, you can vote once per device every 24 hours from now through Tuesday, Oct. 26. The winners of the grant will then be announced on Thursday, Oct. 28.

The passage of an overnight cold front will bring another shot of unseasonal cool air. Northwest winds will give way to raw conditions with windchills holding in the 30s through most of the day. Expect highs to top in the upper-40s under clear skies.
