Evansville Police say they were dispatched to the 2500 block of Pollack Avenue around 10 p.m. Friday in reference to a juvenile male that had been shot in the abdomen.
Before officers could arrive the victim had already been transported to the hospital by an acquaintance.
Police say the victim's father was still at the scene of the shooting and told officers that his son had stepped out of the apartment and when he returned, he quickly realized his son had been shot.
The victim’s friend, who was also a juvenile, transported him to the hospital.
EPD says the victim’s father was unable to provide officers with any suspect information.
When the victim was taken to the hospital he was immediately taken into surgery, so detectives were unable to obtain information from him as well.
He is expected to survive his injuries.
