Evansville investigators make an arrest in an arson reported at a west side business from late Wednesday.

According to a police affidavit, the owner of the business noticed fire damage upon entering the property late Wednesday in the 1900 block of West Franklin Street.

The owner says, they asked their niece, Caitlin Hodges who lives nearby how it happed, telling him a candle caught fire and that she put it out.

Evansville Fire Department investigators were then called to the scene, where they reported six different origins of where a fire was started.

They took Hodges in for questioning, where she later admitted she was under the influence of alcohol and drugs and has Aspergers.

She has since been charged with a Class Three Felony for Arson.

The combination of sunshine and southerly winds will make for another abnormally mild day throughout the Ohio Valley - expect an afternoon high temperature near 69° this afternoon. Friday evening looks as though it will be just as pleasant; after seeing the upper 60s earlier in the day, we'll dip to 60° by 5 PM before falling towards 54° around 7 o’clock. We are however, watching a passing low pressure system and accompanying cold front that is expected to pass through the Tri-State late Friday evening and early Saturday morning.
