Off-Duty Evansville Police Officer Charged With Driving While Intoxicated

An off-duty Evansville Police Department officer was arrested on DUI charges after a crash that happened on Monday.

An Evansville Police Department officer was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated early Monday morning.

According to EPD, officers arrived at the Chuckles gas station on North Fares Ave before 1:30 A.M. They were responding to a call of a car accident involving a white jeep and a pole.

Officers made contact with 41-year-old Jarid Harris, who is an officer with the Evansville Police Department.

Harris wasn't on duty at the time and was operating his own vehicle. After investigating, Evansville Police arrested Harris for suspicion of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

EPD says Harris' listed charges are operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated refusal to submit to an intoxilyzer test.

According to booking records, Harris was released from the Vanderburgh County Jail after posting $100 bond.
