An area police officer is going beyond the badge putting up nets at basketball courts in Evansville.

Someone in the community spotted a uniformed officer near Glenwood Leadership Academy placing a net on a goal without one. A post was made on social media asking the community to figure out who the man is. On Tuesday Evansville Police posted to its Facebook Page, it is Officer Fendel.

According to EPD its not the first time Officer Fendel has taken it upon himself to keep up the community courts. He believes people should be able to play ball on hoops with nets.

Our third day in a row with very mild temperatures. Highs across the Tri-State were in the low and middle 60's. A few showers at times crossed the area. A cold front will push through the Tri-State and will cause a few strong storms, that could have strong winds and even some torrential rain. Some flash flooding is a possibility. Strong winds overnight switching from the southwest to the northwest and may gust as high as 30 mph.
