The COVID-19 pandemic is causing a local Evansville sub shop to close its doors permanently.

David and Danielle Hodge, owners of Siciliano Subs on West Franklin Street, took to Facebook with heavy hearts on Wednesday evening as they shared the news of the sandwich shop's permanent closure.

"As much as it hurts our soul, we just can’t keep the doors open," the owners explained. "Sicilianos never fully recovered from the first COVID-19 quarantine. Now with a sick child we are quarantined yet again."

After two years in business, Siciliano Subs will be closing its doors for good due to struggles caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

Customers of Siciliano Subs will still be able to visit the business for a limited time during the hours of 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. from Thursday - Saturday, or "until the last sub is sold."

It's located at 2021 West Franklin Street in Evansville, Indiana.

Our third day in a row with very mild temperatures. Highs across the Tri-State were in the low and middle 60's. A few showers at times crossed the area. A cold front will push through the Tri-State and will cause a few strong storms, that could have strong winds and even some torrential rain. Some flash flooding is a possibility. Strong winds overnight switching from the southwest to the northwest and may gust as high as 30 mph.
