The Posey County Sheriff's Office says three Evansville residents were arrested late Sunday night after leading deputies on a lengthy chase, traveling over county lines multiple times.
According to PCSO, the chase began around 11:40 p.m. on Sunday night as deputies were patrolling SR 62 at Fox Hollow Drive near the Posey-Vanderburgh County line, when they saw a white SUV with a headlight out.
After deputies attempted to perform a traffic stop on the SUV, PCSO says the SUV began to flee at high rates of speed, leading deputies on a chase through Posey County into Vanderburgh County, only to turn back into Posey County.
The Mt. Vernon Police Department responded and caught up with the suspects near Marrs Elementary School to assist in the pursuit.
While continuing to flee, the vehicle drove almost 1400 feet through a farm field and became stuck, at which point the vehicle's occupants fled on foot.
The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office was notified of the pursuit and Vanderburgh County deputies had set up for interference in case the pursuit came back into Vanderburgh County.
K9 Units from VCSO were able to respond to Posey County and assist in tracking the suspects into a subdivision located northeast of Mt. Vernon, where deputies found them hiding in a home addition that was under construction.
The three individuals were then questioned and taken into custody.
