The Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library is hosting a holiday event for kids and families ahead of Christmas.

On Monday, Dec. 6, the EVPL will begin its "Stories With Santa" event at EVPL Central.

During the event, kids will have a chance to read and sing with Santa Claus.

After Santa visits with the kids, EVPL says that he'll be off to the North Pole to get ready for Christmas, but that crafts, letters to Santa, and pictures will continue.

While the EVPL says that pictures with Santa won't be possible this year due to health and safety precautions, there will be an opportunity to take a holiday picture using a festive backdrop.

You can RSVP to the five-day event on Facebook, or learn more on the EVPL's website. A full list of locations and times for the event can also be seen below.

Wow!!!! It's cold!!!! After a trace of snow in Evansville and some higher amounts to the south, we're waking up to temperatures in the mid to upper teens across the Tri-State. Thankfully, road crews did a fantastic job treating the roads to keep conditions from getting slick. However, the northerly winds gusting as high as 15 to 20 mph has dropped wind chill values into the single digits and even below zero in our western communities. There won't be much of an improvement in temperatures this afternoon. With the strong northerly wind flow and dry skies our highs will only reach the mid to upper 20s. Winds will stay quite breezy keeping the wind chill factor in place through the day.
