An Evansville woman remains in Vanderburgh County Jail on no bond after a break-in at a local wig shop Monday night.

Evansville Police said that 24-year-old Ashley Drane is facing burglary and criminal mischief charges after officers said she broke into the shop and stole a wig.

Around 11:30 p.m, EPD officers arrived at DK Wigs and Beauty on Covert Avenue to respond to a commercial burglary.  Witness on the scene said they saw someone throw something into the store, walk in, and then leave.

During the investigation, officers watched surveillance video of someone that appeared to them as Drane throw a metal sewer cap through the front door and enter into the business.  She then appears to take a wig off of a mannequin and exit the building.

Officers found Drane nearby, carrying a wig.  She told officers that she had "gone into the store to get a wig."  She also told officers that the front door was already broken and that two other people went inside the store before her.  Later, during the investigation, she admitted to police that she broke the glass and entered into the store.

The wig was returned to the store owner.
