An Evansville man pleaded guilty to killing an elderly man in his home during a robbery gone wrong, in March of 2020.
According to the Vanderburgh County Prosecutor's Office, evidence collected in the first 48-hours of the investigation was key to arresting and charging 45-year-old Adam Hartley.
The victim, Charles Quinn, 89, was found unresponsive in his home on March 24, 2020. Investigators say a large amount of blood and other evidence indicated a struggle.
When the body was moved, a hat was found under the victim. Investigators were then able to tie that hat to Hartley, who was seen on neighborhood security video in the hat as he approached Quinn's home.
Hartley was charged with five crimes including murder and robbery resulting in bodily injury. He pled guilty to the two mentioned charges on Monday, June 14, 2020.
Hartley will be sentenced on July 14th.
