The Evansville Christmas on North Main Parade and Santa's Workshop have both been canceled for 2021, according to organizers.
The Evansville Christmas Parade on North Main Committee said the decision to cancel the events was made with several factors in consideration.
"With the anticipation of more than 10,000 people attending the parade and more than 300 attending Santa’s workshop, we feel that there is just no distancing that can make it safe enough during these Covid times," an announcement from the committee said.
Another factor in the decision to cancel the events was the upcoming implosion of the 420 Main Street building, which is slated to happen on the same day as the parade.
Besides that, the Evansville Christmas Parade on North Main Committee says a lack of volunteers, street closures, and the booking of the Civic Center parking lot for an earlier event influenced the decision.
