WEDNESDAY: We woke up to nice and pleasant conditions. It will remain dry through today, but our highs will reach the low to mid 90s under mostly sunny skies. As the heat and humidity mix this afternoon, it will feel absolutely oppressive. In fact, the heat index values could reach the triple digits through the mid-section of the day. The air quality is still poor, too. It may be best to stay inside through much of your afternoon.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Dry skies will persist. Temperatures will drop back down into the low 70s.

REST OF THE WEEK: Tomorrow morning will be nice, but Thursday afternoon is going to be nothing short of miserable. We'll see mostly sunny skies with highs in the mid to upper 90s, but the heat index values will soar to values above 105°. It won't last long because we're tracking our next frontal boundary that will bring us shower and thunderstorm chances Thursday night into Friday morning. The Storm Prediction Center has the northern sections of the Tri-State under a "1" on the Threat Index for severe weather Thursday night/Friday morning.

Today's high temperature of 87° was our warmest in a week and a half - we last climbed that high on the afternoon of September 18th when we tipped the scales at 88°. The remainder of the evening will remain quite mild under clear skies; expect temperatures to first fall to 83° by dinnertime before dropping to 73° by 10PM. The clear skies and weak southerly wind flow will help keep temperatures relatively stable during the overnight and predawn hours - we'll wake up to a morning low of just 62° early Wednesday morning.
