An Evansville man is behind bars after a fight broke out at a family gathering, sending one person to the hospital with stab wounds.

According to the affidavit, 34-year-old Brett Rowans showed up at his grandma’s house to collect his Thanksgiving turkey.

Evansville police officers were dispatched to a house on Warren Drive in Evansville for domestic violence in progress.

According to the affidavit, Brennan Dunmire had called 911 to report that Rowans had stabbed him in the shoulder.

When officers arrived, they were told that Rowans wasn’t supposed to come to the house until after everybody was gone. However, he showed up early.

The affidavit says Dunmire and Rowans have a hostile history, and when Rowans confronted Dunmire about a previous incident, the two began to fight.

Dunmire told police that he felt a pinch in his shoulder during the altercation and realized he had been stabbed.

Dunmire then says he left to go to the hospital where he was treated for a laceration in his left shoulder.

The affidavit says Rowans admitted to the altercation but denies stabbing Dunmire. He was arrested without incident and charged with Battery-Committed with a Deadly Weapon and Communication-Intimidation.

It was another cool, though overall pleasant day across the Tri-State - after only seeing temperatures dive as low as 22° early this morning, peak temperatures ended up climbing a few degrees higher than Thursday's; that being said, Evansville’s high temperature of 27° Was still 15° below average for this time of the year. As for the evening ahead, temperatures will gradually fall for 23° around dinner time back down to 19° by10 PM. A weak northerly wind flow most of the night paired with our crystal clear skies will cause temperatures to of fall back down into the mid to low teens once again - Evansville's anticipated low temperature of 12° will mark or coolest since the morning of January 7th.
