Final inspections are happening this week at the new Deaconess Aquatic Center in Evansville, Indiana, officials with the aquatics facility said.

The final inspections come ahead of the aquatic center's grand opening on Monday, Oct. 4. A virtual dedication ceremony for the aquatic center is also scheduled to take place on Facebook on Friday, Oct. 1, at 3:30 p.m.

Features of the aquatic center include a 50-meter competitive pool, a separated diving well, four locker rooms, just under 1,000 seats for spectators, and much more.

Plans for the Deaconess Aquatic Center were announced about three years ago as a means to replace the Lloyd Pool. If you're interested in a position at the aquatics facility, you can apply for one through the YMCA.

You can find the Deaconess Aquatic Center just by Bosse Field and Garvin Park at 1600 N. Main Street.

A line of sustained to heavy rainfall is expected to push northeastward across the Tri-State between the hours 7AM and 11AM Thursday morning; be sure to pack an umbrella early tomorrow, as that timeline will fall during your morning commute Thursday. After the initial line of rain exits east of the region, we'll continue to see periods of scattered rainfall throughout our Thursday afternoon and evening. Unfortunately, the same can be said for our Friday - lower pressure slowly spinning eastward will stall the rainfall and prolong our precip chances as we head into Friday afternoon and evening. It looks as though those chances of rainfall throughout our Friday will be sporadic at best and shouldn't lead to any significant disruption to those Friday night football games.
