First Time Unemployment Claims Climbing Again Nationwide

Three-quarters of a million first-time unemployment claims were filed last week.

The number of Americans filing for first-time unemployment benefits rose again last week.

New figures released by the U.S. Labor Department show 770,000 people filed jobless claims last week.

Despite this, signs that the U.S. economy is strengthening, as Americans receive their stimulus checks and COVID-19 vaccines, weekly jobless claims remain consistently high for now for months, hovering around four times the pre-pandemic level.
