First Time Jobless Claims Drop for a Second Straight Week Nationally

First-time jobless claims fall for the second time in two weeks, to just under 900,000.

First-time jobless claims fall for the second time in two weeks, to just under 900,000.

The number of claims dropped nationally by 130,000 from the week before.

The unemployment rate now sits at 9.1%.  

According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, unemployment rates in Indiana stood at 7.8% in July down from 16.4% in April.

In Kentucky, the rate was slightly lower at 5.7% for July, while Illinois saw an 11.3% for the same period.
