On Sunday afternoon, Flourish Plant-Based Eatery held a trash pick up to help clean part of Evansville's west side.

"My husband and myself also organize for a group called Vegans of Evansville Community Action. We figured that we should translate that over with our business and do more within the community. Normally we would go to Howell Wetlands and clean up there, but we've noticed that there's a bit of trash around here on the west side of Evansville and since this is where we are located we felt obligated to help and do our part," said Flourish Plant-Based Eatery Co-owner Brandie Scott.

Flourish Plant-Based Eatery holds regular pick ups and encourages the public to come out and help as often as they like.

"We always have trash bags and gloves available for everyone. You literally don't have to bring anything but yourself. So we post the event on Facebook and you just show up. We do trash cleanups once a month those are always at Howell Wetlands through Flourish Plant Based Eatery we plan on implementing that more than just once a month around the community, said Scott.

But this gathering wasn't just about cleaning up, it was an opportunity to make a difference and practice social distancing while doing so.

"It's a good way for friends to get together to feel like they are making a difference you don't have to be close by one another it's a good way to hang out, feel like you're involved in the community, get your kids involved in the community and the environment," said Scott.

We're still waiting on the actual cold front to get here. That should arrive around dawn, bringing mainly light rain. The front may also be responsible for perking up a couple bands of heavier rain and lightning east of Evansville for midday Saturday.
