On Wednesday, the Evansville Police Department released bodycam footage of a shooting incident that happened on Sept. 25 after shots were fired at a Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Deputy.
According to police, the sheriff's deputy was fired upon by a female suspect who was later identified as 27-year-old Diana Elizabeth Ellmers of Newburgh, Indiana.
EPD says after Ellmers fired several rounds at the deputy, her and her accomplice, 28-year-old Cade Christopher Kirk of Evansville, fled into the woodline close to where the incident occurred.
Police say it was around 8:30 p.m. that Ellmers was located by authorities, and that she was found hiding outside a residence north of the Dogtown Tavern.
EPD said that Ellmerr displayed a weapon and that two deputies and three officers fired at her, striking her in the abdomen and arm.
