Evansville police arrested 33-year-old Cardell McFarland after investigators were called to the hospital after a woman reported she was raped at her home.

According to the complaint, the victim said she had known McFarland for a couple of months and had chatted with him using Instagram before eventually exchanging numbers.

She told police she did invite him over. But the victim insists she made it clear before he arrived, they would not be having sex.

The victim also told officers she told McFarland about 30 times that she did not want to have sex with him. She says he ignored her pleas and forced himself on her.

According to the affidavit, the two ended up taking a shower together before the alleged rape occurred. Investigators collected items for evidence from the victim's home.

The victim says she then went to the hospital to report the rape.

When the investigation was completed and detectives interviewed McFarland, he was arrested.

McFarland played basketball at Bosse High School before playing collegiately for Missouri State and Kentucky Wesleyan.

He also played basketball professionally in Europe before joining KWC’s coaching staff last season.

He is no longer listed as a coach for KWC.
