Free COVID-19 testing at the C.K. Newsome Center in downtown Evansville won't be happening on Black Friday as originally planned.
While on Friday, the majority of COVID-19 testing sites would be closed in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, plans to continue testing at the C.K. Newsome Center on that day were made at the request of Indiana State Health Commissioner Dr. Kristina Box.
Although health officials planned to continue operations at the OptumServe testing site due to the high demand and need for testing, a lack of staff caused those plans to be canceled.
Free COVID-19 testing at the location will resume on Monday, Nov. 30.
Registration is required. Those needing a test can register at lhi.care/covidtesting or call 888-634-1116.
Testing is free to all and no medical insurance is necessary, but residents with existing insurance are asked to provide that information during the scheduling process.
