A Gibson County man remains behind bars following trying to escape Indiana State Police troopers following a traffic stop.

According to ISP, on Sunday afternoon, a trooper stoped 48-year-old Brian Bobbitt of Princeton on U.S. 41 near CR 1025 South.

The trooper found out that Bobbitt had an active warrant.  When the trooper ordered Bobbitt to get out of the car, Bobbitt ran out of the car and tried to climb over a nearby fence.  Bobbitt struck the trooper while trying to climb the fence, which led to the taser being used.  Bobbitt fell over the fence, pulled out the taser plugs, and ran to an abandoned faremhouse.

Once the trooper got to the farmhouse, he saw that Bobbitt was running down a dirt road.  A Haubstadt Police patrol car arrived to pick up the trooper and they both caught up to Bobbitt on the road.  Bobbitt was taken into custody and transported to Gibson County Jail, where he is being held without bond.  He is facing Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer resulting in Injury, Resisting Law Enforcement, and possession of drugs.

Bobbitt had a passenger in the car during the traffic stop.  26-year-old Kyanna McRoberts was arrested for possession of drugs and a misdemeanor count of Resisting Law Enforcement.
