Gov. Andy Beshear gave his state of the Commonwealth speech Thursday, after delaying the annual address because of riots in Washington, D.C.

Gov. Beshear’s virtual address included his proposed spending plan to help alleviate financial burdens for Kentuckians.

His budget proposal calls for a $1,000 raise for teachers and fully funding Medicaid.

Gov. Beshear says his plan does not include any tax hikes or cuts to services.

The governor would like to hire 74 social workers to work in Child Protective Services.

It also includes unemployment assistance and money for Kentuckians to attend college and receive certificates.

The governor says all this was made possible since state revenue didn't fall as much as expected.
