On Tuesday, Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb held a briefing to announce Indiana's 62nd Secretary of State.
Gov. Holcomb said Tuesday that Holli Sullivan of Evansville, Indiana, was the next Indiana Secretary of State.
"Today, taking office, the top priority for me is to safeguard Indiana's record of free, fair, and secure elections, ensuring that all Hoosiers know that their vote counts," said Sullivan.
"We will continue this ongoing effort of defending our elections, but I also am very excited to take on and tackle the roles and other responsibilities of this office, by ensuring that we protect Hoosier from financial scams, financial hardships and fraud, as well as continuing to cut red tape by excellent business services," Sullivan continued.
Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke issued a statement on Tuesday following Gov. Holcomb's announcement.
"Holli Sullivan has been an invaluable member of our legislative delegation," said Mayor Winnecke. "As a member of the Ways and Means Committee, Holli has worked diligently to serve the needs of Southwest Indiana. She’s been a great legislative partner. I think it bodes well for the greater Evansville Region that both the Lt. Governor and the Secretary of State are from our region."
Before becoming Secretary of State, Sullivan has served portions of Vanderburgh and Warrick counties as the representative of Indiana's seventy-eighth state house district.
As Indiana Secretary of State, Sullivan succeeds Connie Lawson.
