Governor Andy Beshear, joined by new majority partners and operators of Kentucky Kingdom and Hurricane Bay announce a new strategy for the future success of the Louisville-based amusement park.
The presentation, which was live-streamed on social media platforms, highlighted the commitment Herschend Family Entertainment has had in the past in fostering economic growth and revenue to several properties they manage in adjacent states.
Herschend Family Entertainment operates numerous popular attractions like Dollywood Parks in Tennessee and Newport Aquarium in northern Kentucky.
The new vision for the parks will be accompanied by new management, in hopes of bringing enhanced entertainment and experiences to the amusement and water park.
According to a press release, the parks will focus on hosting family-friendly seasonal and themed events and festivals, as well as expanding the season to provide entertainment to more park guests, and building better relationships with state and local tourism partners to entice more travel to the Bluegrass State.
The opening day for the 65 acres park is planned for Saturday, May 8.
