On Thursday, the Chamber of Commerce and the Green River District Health Department (GRHD) will be at first Christian Church offering free COVID-19 vaccines to anyone who shows up.

The GRHD will be giving out free shots to anyone from 8:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. This will be a mobile vaccine clinic, so you’re asked to stay in your car, And 44News spoke with the Chamber of Commerce to hear why it’s so important to local businesses for Daviess County to up its vaccination rate.

“We feel like it’s really important for us to provide an opportunity so our businesses can stay open, so our schools can stay open, and so people who want a vaccination can get one," said Candance Castlen Brake, president of the Owensboro Chmaber of Commerce.

In the first four free vaccine clinics, the Chamber of Commerce and the GRHD were able to give out more than 500 free vaccinations, and they’re hopeful for even more residents to come Thursday to their fifth drive-thru vaccine clinic.

All three vaccines will be available on Thursday, and all you’ll need to have is your driver’s license and your insurance card.

Wow!!!! It's cold!!!! After a trace of snow in Evansville and some highe amounts to the south, we're waking up to temperatures in the mid to upper teens across the Tri-State. Thankfully, road crews did a fantastic job treating the roads to keep conditions from getting slick. However, the northerly winds gusting as high as 15 to 20 mph has dropped wind chill values into the single digits and even below zero in our western communities. There won't be much of an improvement in temperatures this afternoon. With the strong northerly wind flow and dry skies our highs will only reach the mid to upper 20s. Winds will stay quite breezy keeping the wind chill factor in place through the day.
