An Evansville, Indiana group says it plans to host a rally for abortion rights in the city's downtown on Saturday, Oct. 2.

The group, called "Evansville Rally for Abortion Rights," says it will hold the rally at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the Four Freedoms Monument along the Evansville Riverfront.

Several individuals are listed as speakers at the rally, including Evansville City Council Member Kaitlin Moore.

The rally will also include a voter registration drive "to raise awareness around reproductive rights legislation around the country that will impact the reproductive health and essential care of members of our community and the Tri-State area," according to a statement released by the group.

"The Supreme Court has failed millions of Texans. In the dead of the night, the Supreme Court turned its back on 50 years of precedent, rendering Roe v. Wade effectively meaningless in that state," the statement from Evansville Rally for Abortion Rights said. "This is unprecedented and we can not let it stand. We cannot let Indiana enact similar legislation."

According to the Facebook event page created for the rally, about 140 people plan on attending so far.

Our third day in a row with very mild temperatures. Highs across the Tri-State were in the low and middle 60's. A few showers at times crossed the area. A cold front will push through the Tri-State and will cause a few strong storms, that could have strong winds and even some torrential rain. Some flash flooding is a possibility. Strong winds overnight switching from the southwest to the northwest and may gust as high as 30 mph.
