The Owensboro Police Department said Monday that a Hancock County man was arrested on numerous charges including Attempted Murder and Burglary after a crime in Owensboro went sideways.
According to OPD, 30-year-old Robert A. Simpson of Hawesville, Kentucky, was arrested on Sunday on several outstanding warrants at a residence on Prince Avenue in Owensboro.
OPD says Robert Simpson was also the person of interest in a burglary in progress that occurred in the 4600 block of Medley Road on Tuesday, Feb. 2.
Police say that during that burglary incident, Robert Simpson was with his brother, 28-year-old Darren Simpson of Owensboro, who was arrested at the scene.
Unlike his brother, Robert was able to flee the scene and evade police until his arrest on Sunday, according to OPD. Police say he did this by stealing the homeowner's vehicle and nearly running him over with it, which is why he's charged with Attempted Murder.

- Attempted Murder
- Burglary, 3rd Degree
- Attempted Burglary, 2nd Degree
- Criminal Trespassing, 2nd Degree
