Heat & Humidity Fueling Afternoon Storms

What to expect for Tuesday

Posted: Aug 17, 2021 8:17 AM

TUESDAY: Greater chances of showers and storms will be possible through most of the day. A heavy downpour or two cannot be ruled out especially between the hours of 12PM - 8PM. Besides the chances of rain, muggier air will settle with the mercury approaching the upper-80s. It will feel like the low-90s.
TUESDAY NIGHT: Rain chances will diminish after sunset with partly cloudy conditions. Depending on how much skies clear, morning lows will range from the upper-60s to low-70s.
REST OF THE WEEK: Showers and storms will continue to be hit or miss each afternoon. By late-week the mercury will make a run towards the 90-degree mark with the tropical humidity remaining intact.

The combination of sunshine and southerly winds will make for another abnormally mild day throughout the Ohio Valley - expect an afternoon high temperature near 69° this afternoon. Friday evening looks as though it will be just as pleasant; after seeing the upper 60s earlier in the day, we'll dip to 60° by 5 PM before falling towards 54° around 7 o’clock. We are however, watching a passing low pressure system and accompanying cold front that is expected to pass through the Tri-State late Friday evening and early Saturday morning.
