The Henderson Shrine Club says its Henderson Merchants’ Annual Invitational Christmas Parade will not take place this year.

The parade, which typically takes place on the first Saturday in December in downtown Henderson, Kentucky, was canceled due to the high number of COVID-19 cases in Henderson County.

Parade Chairman and Shrine Club member Ethan Evans said the decision was made by his organization after surveying volunteers who work on parade day as well as participants who prepare floats and other types of entries, which determined that many were not comfortable participating because of the pandemic.

The Henderson Shrine Club now looks forward to 2021, when it plans to hold the next Christmas Parade.

Similarly, the Owensboro-Daviess County Christmas Parade was also called off in late-October due to COVID-19 concerns.

It was an absolutely gorgeous afternoon throughout the Tri-State, but despite our seemingly endless supply of sunshine today, temperatures remained more than 10° cooler than the norm for this time of the year. Fortunately, today's peak temperature of 65° represents our coolest anticipated afternoon high temperature through the remainder of our extended forecast. While it is indeed encouraging that temperatures will gradually rise through the rest of the work week into the weekend ahead, we'll still have to deal with temperatures back down into the upper 30s and low 40s early Thursday morning.
