The Henderson County Board of Education is pressing the pause button on winter sports.
The consensus of the board members is there are too many COVID-19 cases in the community to go forward with a winter sports season.

The board voted unanimously Monday to scrap its original plan to move forward with winter sports.
The board passed a new resolution- choosing to pause all winter sports activities until further notice. That includes competition and practices.
"This is out of all of our control....this pandemic has taken turns we didn't expect it to. Your plans that you gave us were wonderful, we just can't implement them at this time....we're going to try to get back to them as best we can as fast as we can," said Board Chairperson Lisa Baird.
The board plans to reassess the situation in early December. But as of now, the winter sports season is on hold.
