Henderson County Schools announced a school-wide face mask mandate for all students and staff to begin Wednesday, August 11th.

Officials say this is different from the original school announcement, but the rise in positive Covid-19 cases has continued to increase in the area at an alarming rate.

They say wearing masks will help lower the number of students required to quarantine due to exposure to the virus, keeping students in classes.

Officials will continue to monitor the local incidence rate, and make adjustments to the new policy, such as making the mandate optional again when numbers begin to lower in the County.

We headed out to cloudy skies and some damp conditions this morning across the Tri-State. We've been tracking scattered showers for the first part of the day. While it’s been mostly cloudy, there will be some sunshine as soon as we get the rain out of the area. Temperatures are still expected to reach unseasonably warm values this afternoon. With some sunshine and winds out of the southwest highs should have no problem reaching the upper 50s and lower 60s. Clouds will clear out, but the southerly wind flow will keep overnight lows in the low to mid 40s. Tomorrow morning won't be all that bad considering it will be December 2nd.
