Henderson County Schools Goes Virtual for Two Weeks Due to COVID-19

Henderson County Schools said Friday that the recent increase in COVID-19 cases in the community caused the decision.

According to Henderson County Schools (HCS), schools within the district will utilize Non-Traditional Instruction for the weeks beginning Monday, Oct. 12, and Monday, Oct 19.

HCS said that after the two weeks of Non-Traditional Instruction are completed, the goal is to return to Hybrid Model Instruction on October 26.

Schools within the HCS district include:

  • Thelma B. Johnson Early Learning Center
  • A.B. Chandler Elementary School
  • Bend Gate Elementary School
  • Cairo Elementary School
  • East Heights Elementary School
  • Jefferson Elementary School
  • Niagara Elementary School
  • South Heights Elementary School
  • Spottsville Elementary School
  • North Middle School
  • South Middle School
  • Central Academy
  • Henderson County High School
  • Career & Technical Education

HCS also said Friday that if athletic events are held, attendance at those events would be reduced.
