Pet adoptions at the Hopkins County Humane Society are free in December.

The adoption fee waiver became a reality thanks to Independence Bank employees.

The workers donated to a general fund throughout the year to help an organization in need this holiday season. The bank chose the Hopkins County Humane Society as the recipient.  As a result of that donation, the shelter can offer adoptions to qualified applicants at no out-of-pocket cost.

According to the shelter's executive director, the facility is just barely below its capacity limit right now. The organization usually charges $125 adoption fees and there are typically about 20-25 adoptions per month.

For more information about the available animals, visit the shelter's website.

It was an absolutely gorgeous day across the Tri-State; temperatures climbed back into the upper 40s low 50s area-wide earlier this afternoon. Evansville‘s afternoon high temperature of 49° was our warmest in nearly a week. As for the evening ahead, temperatures will be relatively stable as a breezy southerly wind continues to bolster the mercury throughout the region; temperatures around 42° at dinner time will only fall as low as 41° by midnight. An inbound cold front moving in overnight tonight and early tomorrow morning will begin to generate chances of rainfall as early as the predawn hours on Wednesday.
