A Hopkins County man was arrested late Wednesday night after an armed standoff on Interstate 24 in Eddyville, Kentucky, according to the Kentucky State Police.

Police say they discovered that the man was holding a handgun and that he shot the gun multiple times toward the ground and in the air.

After a standoff lasting over an hour between officers and the man, KSP says he was taken into custody and identified as 26-year-old Dean D. Adornato of Nebo, Kentucky.

Adornato was booked into the Christian County Jail on three counts of 1st Degree Wanton Endangerment and one count of Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon.

KSP says no one was hurt as a result of the incident and that Adornato's vehicle was later found on a nearby side road.

We headed out to cloudy skies and some damp conditions this morning across the Tri-State. We've been tracking scattered showers for the first part of the day. While it’s been mostly cloudy, there will be some sunshine as soon as we get the rain out of the area. Temperatures are still expected to reach unseasonably warm values this afternoon. With some sunshine and winds out of the southwest highs should have no problem reaching the upper 50s and lower 60s. Clouds will clear out, but the southerly wind flow will keep overnight lows in the low to mid 40s. Tomorrow morning won't be all that bad considering it will be December 2nd.
