The Gibson County Sheriff's Office arrested a man on multiple charges after authorities were call to a residence for an ongoing fight on Wednesday.
Just before midnight, authorites were called to the 7000 block of South 1100 West.
Upon arrival, deputies began investigating the allegations of a fight. During the investigation, they detected the odor of alcohol on 45-year-old Josh Painter of Newton, Illinois.
After speaking with Painter, the victim of the fight, and other witnesses, Painter was transported to the Gibson County Jail.
According to the charges filed, there must have been some struggle between Painter and deputies when they attemoted to place him in custody.
Painter has been charged with:
- Battery
- Strangulation
- Battery of an officer
- Resisting Law Enforcement
- Intimidation
