Indiana Reports 740 New Positive COVID-19 Cases, One New Vanderburgh Co. Death

740 new positive cases of COVID-19 were reported throughout the state of Indiana on Wednesday, in addition to one new local COVID-19 death, in Vanderburgh County.

One new coronavirus death was reported in Vanderburgh County on Wednesday, Aug 5, bringing the county's total number of COVID-19 deaths to date to 13 total, since the first coronavirus death in the county was recorded on April 6.

As of Wednesday throughout the state of Indiana, 2,805 total COVID-19 deaths are now being reported - an increase of 12 new statewide COVID-19 deaths since Tuesday.

There were also 740 new positive cases of COVID-19 reported on Wednesday by the Indiana State Department of Health.

That brought the total number of identified coronavirus cases in the Hoosier State to date to 69,975 total - since ISDH recorded the first case of COVID-19 in Indiana on March 6.

So far, 792,225 Indiana residents have been tested for COVID-19, showing a statewide positivity rate of 8.8%.

According to ISDH, 32.3% of ICU beds and 81.8% of ventilators were available statewide in hospitals as of Wednesday.
