Two days ahead of Indiana's entry into Stage 5 of its reopening, the state health department said that 920 more Hoosiers had tested positive for COVID-19.
Indiana's southwestern counties accounted for a number of the new positive cases reported on Thursday, with 44 new positive cases of COVID-19 being reported in Vanderburgh County, and seven new positive cases each in Posey and Gibson counties.
There were 11 new positive cases of the virus confirmed in Warrick County, while in Knox County, there were 10. Daviess County reported four new positive cases of COVID-19, and Dubois County reported five.
After Thursday's report of 920 new positive cases across the state, the total number of Indiana residents known to have contracted COVID-19 to date was brought to 114,236, since the first positive case of the virus was recorded in the state on March 6, 2020.
The state health department also reported 17 new COVID-19 deaths throughout Indiana on Thursday.
However, one new local COVID-19 death that wasn't yet included in the state's data was also reported on Thursday, in Dubois County by the local health department.
By the Indiana State Department of Health's count, 3,322 total Indiana residents have now died from COVID-19 to date.
