Indiana State Police Announce New Sergeant Promotion

Indiana State Police Superintendent Doug Carter announced the promotion of Master Trooper Brian LaRoche to the rank of Sergeant, Monday evening.

Indiana State Police Superintendent Doug Carter announced the promotion of Master Trooper Brian LaRoche to the rank of Sergeant, Monday evening.

According to the press release, Sergeant LaRoche achieved the rank through a competitive promotion process including a written test, oral interview, and overall job performance review.

Sergeant LaRoche is a native of Huntingburg, Indiana, and a 1991 graduate of Southridge High School. After high school, LaRoche served in the United States Army from 1991 to 1993. LaRoche also served in the Indiana National Guard until 1999.

LaRoche attended Vincennes University and graduated in 1996. Before joining the Indiana State Police, LaRoche worked as a reserve officer for Huntingburg Police Department and as a jailer for the Dubois County Sheriffs Department. He was selected to attend the 58th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy and was sworn in as a Trooper in December 1999. LaRoche's first duty assignment was to the Connorsville District until he transferred to the Jasper District in 2001.

Sergeant LaRoche will mentor and supervise a squad of troopers assigned to the Jasper Post in his new position.

The bitterly cold start to our Wednesday will inevitably lead to a cooler-than-average afternoon across the Tri-State. We're currently expecting an afternoon high of 26° in Evansville on Wednesday afternoon (that’s 17° below average for this time of the year). Temperatures will once again dive back down towards the teens for many of us overnight and into early Thursday. As for right now Thursday morning looks as though will be slightly warmer, but only just - believes model data indicates that we will see a morning low temperature of 14° under partly cloudy skies in Evansville tomorrow morning.
