The Indiana University trustees have selected as the school’s next president Pamela Whitten, currently the president of Kennesaw State University in Georgia.

Trustees chair Michael Mirro said Friday that Whitten was appointed following an extensive search.

She will become IU’s first female president.

Current IU President Michael McRobbie announced in August he would retire when his term ends June 30.

Whitten became Kennesaw State’s president in July 2018. From 2014 to 2018, she served as a senior vice president for academic affairs and provost at the University of Georgia.

We headed out to cloudy skies and some damp conditions this morning across the Tri-State. We've been tracking scattered showers for the first part of the day. While it’s been mostly cloudy, there will be some sunshine as soon as we get the rain out of the area. Temperatures are still expected to reach unseasonably warm values this afternoon. With some sunshine and winds out of the southwest highs should have no problem reaching the upper 50s and lower 60s. Clouds will clear out, but the southerly wind flow will keep overnight lows in the low to mid 40s. Tomorrow morning won't be all that bad considering it will be December 2nd.
