The Indiana State Department of Health said Friday that the Hoosier State would now offer booster doses of the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines.

Individuals currently eligible to receive the booster dose of the Moderna or J&J vaccine in Indiana include anyone who's at least 65-years-old.

Other eligible individuals include those ages 18 and older who have underlying medical conditions, are living in high-risk settings, and those living in long-term care settings.

ISDH says booster doses are also being recommended for anyone 18 or older who got the single-dose Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine two or more months ago.

Eligible individuals can choose which vaccine they receive as a booster dose, regardless of which vaccine they received initially. The CDC’s recommendations now allow for this type of "mix-and-match" dosing for booster shots.

Friday's announcement from ISDH comes after the recent FDA authorization for booster doses in each brand of vaccines. Booster doses of the Pfizer vaccine have been available since late September.

The combination of sunshine and southerly winds will make for another abnormally mild day throughout the Ohio Valley - expect an afternoon high temperature near 69° this afternoon. Friday evening looks as though it will be just as pleasant; after seeing the upper 60s earlier in the day, we'll dip to 60° by 5 PM before falling towards 54° around 7 o’clock. We are however, watching a passing low pressure system and accompanying cold front that is expected to pass through the Tri-State late Friday evening and early Saturday morning.
