A Haubstadt man is in custody after fleeing the scene of a crash Saturday afternoon.

The Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office says they responded to a hit-and-run crash at the intersection of Saint Wendel Road and Whispering Hills Drive shortly before 3 p.m.

The driver had allegedly struck a telephone pole and a mailbox before fleeing the scene.

Deputies say the driver identified as Andrew Halbig was intoxicated.

He is currently being held in the Vanderburgh County Jail without bond, pending a scheduled Monday morning court appearance.

Our third day in a row with very mild temperatures. Highs across the Tri-State were in the low and middle 60's. A few showers at times crossed the area. A cold front will push through the Tri-State and will cause a few strong storms, that could have strong winds and even some torrential rain. Some flash flooding is a possibility. Strong winds overnight switching from the southwest to the northwest and may gust as high as 30 mph.
