On Friday, 38-year-old Jacob Wilson was found guilty of Murder in the 2018 death of Samuel Bethe of Buckskin, Indiana.
Police said Wilson and his co-defendant, Ashley Robling, fled to Illinois after Bethe was found shot in the head inside his burning home in 2018.
They were accused of killing Bethe and setting his house on fire.
In 2019, Robling entered into a plea agreement and was sentenced to 45 years in prison.
Robling's mother attended Wilson's trial and is more than pleased with the outcome.
"Very happy. Very glad. I knew he was the one who did it the whole time. They just tried to lay the blame all on her and I knew she couldn't do anything like that. She was friends with Sam," Robling's mother, Betsy Taylor told 44News.
Taylor hopes this means the courts will revisit her daughter's sentence. "I'm just hoping they cut her sentence in half or just pardon her from all this," said Taylor.
After the guilty verdict was read, Wilson turned to Bethe's brother and said, "Sorry about your brother, sir." Wilson was taken away in handcuffs minutes later.
Wilson is now scheduled to be sentenced on Tuesday, June 8, at 9:00 a.m.
