Jasper Baseball Rallies to Advance to Semi-State

The Jasper baseball team overcame a big deficit late to beat Center Grove to win the 4-A Regional Championship and advance to Semi-State title game.

The Jasper baseball team staged a rally for the ages to upend Center Grove and win the 4-A Regional title game at Ruxer Field in Jasper, Saturday night, 7-4 the final.

Trailing 4-0 in the 5th inning, the Wildcats ignited for seven runs in the bottom of the frame, highlighted by a grand slam from Eli Hopf, and held on for the victory.

Jasper opened the day with a tight 2-1 Regional semifinal win over Floyd Central.

The Wildcats will take on Mount Vernon-Fortville in the Semi-State Championship Game Saturday, time and location to be determined.

Today's high temperature of 87° was our warmest in a week and a half - we last climbed that high on the afternoon of September 18th when we tipped the scales at 88°. The remainder of the evening will remain quite mild under clear skies; expect temperatures to first fall to 83° by dinnertime before dropping to 73° by 10PM. The clear skies and weak southerly wind flow will help keep temperatures relatively stable during the overnight and predawn hours - we'll wake up to a morning low of just 62° early Wednesday morning.
