On Monday, Greater Jasper Consolidated Schools announced that all Jasper High School students grades 9 -  12 would be switching to virtual learning temporarily.

The switch to virtual will begin on Tuesday, Dec. 15, and will last through Friday, Dec. 18. Students will then return to in-person learning following the holiday break on Monday, Jan. 4.

Though all students grades 9 - 12 will be making the temporary transition to virtual learning, Greater Jasper Consolidated Schools says students in grades PreK - 8 will continue daily in-person learning. Bus transportation will continue to operate.

During the virtual learning period, meals will be available for pickup at Jasper High School from 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. daily for students in grades 9-12. Each pickup will contain that day’s hot lunch and a breakfast for the next day. (Virtual Meals Request Form.)

In addition to the switch to virtual, all extra-curricular practices are canceled until Monday, Dec. 28, and all extra-curricular events are canceled until Jan. 4, 2021.

District officials say these decisions were made based on a large number of students recently being identified as close contacts.
