MasterBrand Cabinets out of Ferdinand, Indiana is going to be in Owensboro Saturday, March 27th at the Kentucky Career Center, hoping to recruit new employees.

Positions range from $15 an hour to $18 an hour. And as more people get vaccinated and restrictions continued to be lifted -- Owensboro Mayor Tom Watson -- who is on a workforce investment board -- says he believes even more events like this to entice workers will boom over the next few months.

"Trades are important -- there's over 280,000 jobs open in the commonwealth right now -- that need trades -- from HVAC to electricians to just you name it."

And while MasterBrand Cabinets is located in Ferdinand and hiring in Owensboro -- Watson says he also has dual offices in each state and understands that Kentucky and Indiana's economies are connected.

And while MasterBrand Cabniets  is Located in Ferdinand and hiring in Owensboro -- Watson said the 40 minute drive is not so bad.

"And when people have been out of work for a while -- and those that didn't go back to work -- even the restaurants that are trying to reopen -- they'd like to get back to sixty, eighty, 100 percent," he said. "But they're having trouble getting their folks back -- there's going to be a transition over the next four to six months when people get back involved in employment."

The job fair lasts from 8 to 11 a.m.  and appointments are required

Our snowy, slick start to the day gave way to a gloomy, gray and chilly afternoon throughout the Tri-State. After only reaching temperatures in the mid 30s early in the day, we will see temperatures gradually tumble back down into the upper 20s by 10 o’clock. Despite the gradual clearing conditions overnight (which would normally lead too a much colder morning), the mercury is expected to remain relatively stable into early Tuesday morning. The return of a southerly wind flow overnight will help keep the temperatures milder as we head towards daybreak.
