While fall sports in Kentucky faced delays, winter sports seem to be on schedule or with little delay.

The Kentucky High School Athletic Association approved winter sports calendars for basketball, swimming, and other sports.

The Board of Control announced that basketball for high schools in Kentucky will start on schedule.  This means that practices are set to begin on October 26th, games can begin on November 23rd.

There will be a 12-week regular season, with postseason set to begin on February 15th.

This year's Sweet 16's will be March 3rd through 7th for Boys and March 10th through 14th for Girls.

Also approved in the meeting was for swimming & diving and bowling set to start practice on November 2nd, with swimming competitions starting on November 16th, a full week later than orginally planned.

Wrestling can begin practice on November 2nd and the first regular-season contests can begin on December 7th.

Competitive Cheer and Dance can start practice as soon as next week.

While the dates are being set, policies on how indoor practices and games will be conducted are still being worked on.  This includes the number of fans to attend the events, social distancing practices, and use of face masks.

Just another day in paradise. Temperatures surged back into the low 70's for the first time in a week and a half and with southerly winds finally returning to the region, more warmth is on the way for the Tri-State. In fact, this evening looks nothing short of absolutely gorgeous across the area - by dinnertime we'll have fallen back down to 71°, but only as low as 58° by 10PM. So, if you have plans out and about this evening, all you may need will be a sweatshirt. We'll also remain relatively mild early Saturday morning, especially when you compare Saturday morning's anticipated low of 48° to previous mornings earlier in the week. Brrr.
